Palace Avenue

Palace Avenue Swing is a large ensemble of experienced professional musicians and friends who specialise in performing and recreating the music and style of the golden era of jazz, blues and swing in its many forms 1920-50s. The musicians who form the many classic and bespoke line ups are highly regarded as some of the best in the UK, and have entertained to great acclaim at the most prestigious international festivals.

The Palace Avenue are hugely influenced by countless musicians that include the pioneers of early jazz such as Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney Bechet and Louis Armstong. They also love the elegant and swinging small group and big band swing of the likes of Django Reinhart, Lew Stone, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Count Basie. Later 1940-50s influences include the hot sounds of Ray Charles, Louis Jordon and Louis Prima. The singers in Palace Avenue also take inspiration from Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sinatra, and Nat King Cole to name but a few.

For this occasion we’ll have with us the "Palace Avenue Dance Band" composed of a strong rhythm section and a group of powerful trumpets. Featuring the wonderful Cherise on vocals, the Dance Band is guaranteed to fill a dance floor.
